How do I create an account?
Open newstally.online → Tap Profile icon → Sign in with Google or Email → Choose a unique username → Done! Your account is free and ready instantly.
What are the username rules?
Username must be 3–30 characters, using only letters (a-z), numbers (0-9), dots (.) or underscores (_). Every username must be unique — no two users can share the same one.
How do I change my profile photo?
Your profile photo comes from your Google account automatically. To change it: update your Google profile photo → it will reflect on NewsTally automatically after re-login.
How to install NewsTally as an app?
Android (Chrome): Menu (⋮) → "Add to Home Screen" ✅
iPhone (Safari): Share button → "Add to Home Screen" ✅
No download needed — it works like a native app instantly!
Socialgati — Posts & Social
How do I create a post on Socialgati?
Tap the ✏️ pen button at the bottom center → Write your text (max 500 chars) → Add hashtags with # → Optionally add an image → Tap "Share". Your post appears in everyone's feed!
How to repost news to Socialgati?
Open any news article → Tap the ↺ Repost button → News gets shared to Socialgati feed instantly. Note: Same news can only be reposted once per user.
What is "Gati"?
Gati is NewsTally's version of "Like"! Tap the ❤️ heart button to Gati a post. You can also double-tap any post for an instant Gati. It's our original feature.
How to follow someone?
Tap any user's profile photo or username → Their profile opens → Tap the "Follow" button (purple). You'll start seeing their posts in your feed.
News & Search
How to search for news?
On the News page, tap the 🔍 search button → Type your topic, keyword or source name → Live results appear → Tap any result to read the full article. Voice search is also available!
How to save news articles?
Open any news article → Tap the 🔖 bookmark icon → Article is saved. View saved articles: Profile → Saved tab (🔖 icon). Saves are stored on your device.
Can I listen to news articles?
Yes! Open any news article → Tap the 🔊 speaker icon → The article will be read aloud using text-to-speech. English and Hindi both supported. Tap again to stop.
Account & Settings
How to enable Dark Mode?
Go to Profile → Tap ☰ Settings → Toggle "Dark Mode" on. You can also set "Auto Dark Schedule" to automatically switch at specific times like 10pm–6am.
How to delete my account?
Profile → Settings → Scroll down → "Delete Account" → Confirm with your email. ⚠️ Warning: This is permanent and all your data will be deleted immediately.
Why am I not getting notifications?
Make sure you're signed in. Check browser notification permissions for newstally.online. You get notifications when someone likes, comments or follows you. Visit
notifications.html to see all alerts.
Something is not working. What to do?
Try: 1) Refresh the page (pull-to-refresh on mobile) 2) Clear browser cache 3) Try in incognito/private mode 4) Re-login 5) Check internet connection. Still not working?
